PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jet Jordan (ranked 5636 p4p, 465 weight class) and Jose Carvaleho (ranked 6329 p4p, 497 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jose Carvaleho was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jet Jordan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jose Carvaleho!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Bart Greer and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jordan gets a clinch.
Jordan can't get the takedown.
Carvaleho misses with some punches.
Carvaleho has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jordan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Jordan wants to break free but Carvaleho has control.
Carvaleho avoiding damage as Jordan throws knees to the body.

Carvaleho breaks from the clinch.
Jordan has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Cozad The Island in the buildup to the fight.
Carvaleho takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Jordan shoots in and drives through. Carvaleho sprawls well.
Carvaleho tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Jordan slips under a jab.
Jordan shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Carvaleho but Carvaleho pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Carvaleho drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Jordan defends it well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jet Jordan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carvaleho shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jordan's guard.
Carvaleho slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jordan is trying to escape the position but Carvaleho is controlling the position.
My spies in Poseidon MMA (New Member Special!) inform me that Carvaleho has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Carvaleho has hold of Jordan's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Jordan seems comfortable defending it but Carvaleho has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Jordan is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Jordan is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Carvaleho couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jose Carvaleho!
