Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Shawn VanDam (ranked 5309 p4p, 384 weight class) and Leon Quinones (ranked 3056 p4p, 269 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Peter Branson and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
VanDam closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
VanDam tries to move into full mount but can't pass Quinones's legs.
Quinones is not content to let VanDam control the position.
VanDam is really struggling to control Quinones but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Quinones tries to bench press VanDam off him but VanDam keeps the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee asks VanDam politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. VanDam prefers to stall for the moment though.

Quinones closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming VanDam to the mat! VanDam manages to get full guard.

Well VanDam has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

After the fight, Shawn VanDam was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
