Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Carl Brooks (ranked 2617 p4p, 258 weight class) and Jackson Kassongo (ranked 6061 p4p, 424 weight class). Brooks comes to the cage accompanied by Eminem - Phenomenal. On his way into the cage it seems that Carl Brooks has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Carl Brooks seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Carl Brooks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jackson Kassongo!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kassongo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brooks tries to avoid it but Kassongo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brooks to the ground. Brooks escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kassongo shoots and misses
and Brooks counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Kassongo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Brooks is fending him off so far but Kassongo persists. Nope, Brooks circles away and we're back to standing.
Carl Brooks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jackson Kassongo.
Nice uppercut lands for Brooks. That snapped Kassongo's head back.
Brooks throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kassongo was covering up waiting for the punch and Brooks finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Brooks lands a couple of elbows.
Kassongo is rocked!
Brooks sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Brooks distracts Kassongo with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Brooks is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Brooks lands a couple of digs.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Brooks wants to control from the top but Kassongo keeps moving.
Brooks is pushing down on Kassongo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Kassongo is fighting to maintain full guard but Brooks has managed to sneak the leg through.
Brooks keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Kassongo is trying to get back to full guard.
Brooks trying to control from half guard but Kassongo is working away.
Brooks is taking a breather. Kassongo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Brooks's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Kassongo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brooks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kassongo has hold of Brooks's hands but Brooks slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Kassongo is in trouble now - Brooks has advanced to mount!
Brooks is landing with some decent strikes but Kassongo is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Kassongo is still in real trouble! Can Brooks finish him?

Kassongo seems to have recovered his senses.
Kassongo really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Brooks in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Kassongo is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Brooks lands a big elbow - Kassongo is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Kassongo is forced to tap out!

Carl Brooks bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
