Coming up we have a lightweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Alvin Aguilar (ranked 10562 p4p, 547 weight class) and Azar Qasi (ranked 1972 p4p, 214 weight class). Aguilar comes to the ring accompanied by Drector's Cut by Kamikazee. The crowd seem to be enjoying Qasi's choice of entrance music: For Whom The Bell Tolls. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 26 wins and 16 losses; Alvin Aguilar! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 5 losses; Azar Qasi! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Aguilar tries for a takedown but Qasi circles away easily and Qasi decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Aguilar's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Aguilar (0) vs (2) Qasi Qasi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Qasi showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Qasi wants to control from the top but Aguilar keeps moving. Qasi is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Qasi looking to pass the guard. Qasi trying to control the action but Aguilar is working from the bottom. Aguilar has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Qasi is working away from the top position though.

Qasi tries to free his leg and advance position but Aguilar is retaining full guard. Qasi wants to control from the top but Aguilar keeps moving. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Aguilar got a little sloppy there for a moment and Qasi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! That's six minutes gone in the round. Qasi tries to hold on but Aguilar postures up. Aguilar sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Qasi keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Qasi tries to lock up and control but Aguilar gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Qasi regains half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Aguilar in particular looking to stall.

Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Qasi is looking to reverse the position. Aguilar controls the position from side control.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Qasi gets back to half guard. Qasi is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Aguilar passes the guard and advances to mount! Score +3 for passing guard: Aguilar (11) vs (2) Qasi Aguilar controlling the pace for now.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Qasi tries to hold on but Aguilar postures up. Qasi tries to improve his position but instead Aguilar has taken his back! Score +3 for taking back: Aguilar (14) vs (2) Qasi You can see the frustration on Qasi's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Qasi can't escape the position.
Aguilar just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Aguilar's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Qasi tries to roll but Aguilar sticks to his back.
That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Aguilar is trying to stick to Qasi's back but Qasi is turning into Aguilar. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Aguilar's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Qasi. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Aguilar (14) vs (4) Qasi Qasi wants to control from the top but Aguilar keeps moving. Aguilar trying to control the position.

Aguilar is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Qasi is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Qasi sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Aguilar's guard. Aguilar wants to improve his position but Qasi is controlling well.
Qasi wants to pass to mount but Aguilar is defending the position. Qasi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Aguilar keeps working. Qasi might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Aguilar haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Qasi is keen to just control but Aguilar is a slippery customer. Aguilar is looking for a sweep. Qasi is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Aguilar slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Aguilar can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Qasi controls the pace. Qasi tries to free his leg and advance position but Aguilar is retaining full guard. Aguilar has control of Qasi's left arm, preventing Qasi from doing any damage. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Qasi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Aguilar swivels though and keeps the full guard. Aguilar is trying to control the position but Qasi postures up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Qasi content to stall in guard here. Qasi wants to pass the guard but Aguilar is keeping the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Aguilar takes the fight on points by 14 to 4. After winning the bout, Alvin Aguilar thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. |
