The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Sage Lll closes this distance looking for a takedown but Tomson circles away.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Sage Lll has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Tomson leaves Sage Lll with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Tomson clinches.
Sage Lll jumps guard but Tomson turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Tom Tomson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Golden Sage Lll.
Sage Lll tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Tomson tightens his grip and picks Sage Lll up, before dumping him to the ground. Sage Lll manages to land in guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Tomson (2) vs (0) Sage Lll
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tomson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Tomson has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Sage Lll to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Tomson is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Sage Lll pulls down on the head and he's put Tomson to sleep! This one is all over!
