Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cathail Murphy (ranked 2987 p4p, 359 weight class) and Kai Rossiter (ranked 1886 p4p, 244 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Cathail Murphy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Kai Rossiter!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murphy throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Murphy clinches up with Rossiter and pushes him back against the cage.

Rossiter pulls Murphy into guard.
Murphy won't allow Rossiter to sweep him here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Murphy trying to stand up but can't free himself from Rossiter's guard.

Rossiter had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Murphy defends it easily.
Murphy controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rossiter not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Murphy being controlled here momentarily.
Murphy wants to get up but he can't break Rossiter's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Murphy trying to control but Rossiter is working from the bottom.
Murphy is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Rossiter is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Murphy wants to get up but he can't break Rossiter's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Rossiter escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Murphy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Rossiter wants to sweep but no luck.
Murphy trying to control the position from guard on top but Rossiter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rossiter trying to control the position.
Murphy slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Rossiter tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Murphy wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Murphy tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Murphy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rossiter keeps working.
Rossiter struggling a bit here.

Murphy is looking to take a break and control but Rossiter is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Murphy looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Rossiter holds on tight, trying to prevent any damage.
Rossiter is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Rossiter forces Murphy back against the cage and clinches.
Murphy has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Rossiter is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Murphy misses with a knee to the head.

Rossiter gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Murphy is trying to escape back to his feet but Rossiter uses the scramble to pass into side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Murphy looking for a sweep but Rossiter has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Murphy is wriggling around trying to escape.

Rossiter looking to isolate an arm here. Murphy doesn't see it coming and as Rossiter extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Rossiter!

During a confident post fight interview, Kai Rossiter thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
