Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Byung Soo Choi (ranked 5322 p4p, 475 weight class) and Norman Young (ranked 4068 p4p, 422 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Byung Soo Choi has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Byung Soo Choi seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Byung Soo Choi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Norman Young! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Paul Tew and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Choi keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. A looping hook to the body misses from Young. Choi does a little dance to reset his feet. Choi misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Choi stuffs the takedown. A big head kick from Choi and Young is sent sprawling to the canvas!
Young is rocked!
It looks like Norman Young has been cut. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Young throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Young is still in real trouble! Can Choi finish him? Young has a closed guard, preventing Choi from standing up. Young seems to have recovered his senses. Choi wants to stand and escape but instead Young has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Choi wants to stand but Young is controlling the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Young controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Choi wants to stand and escape but Young is having none of it. Young content to stall in guard here. Choi scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Young shoots in looking for a takedown. Choi tries to sprawl out of it but Young keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Choi manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Byung Soo Choi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Norman Young. A jab-cross combination lands for Choi and sends Young crashing to the mat! Choi follows him down to the mat - Young regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Choi postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Young to stand up. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Young. Choi throws a quick counter head kick but Young was just out of range. Young closes the distance and pushes Choi back into the cage. Young ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Young no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Young has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Choi can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Choi throws a big elbow that misses. Young is adopting a defensive guard. Young manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Choi manages to get himself to full guard.
Young won't allow Choi to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Young looking to pass the guard. Young content to stall in guard here. Choi working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Young. Choi is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Young is controlling him. Young stays in close to Choi's body and controls the position. Choi is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Young wants to control from the top but Choi keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Choi is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Young is controlling him. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Young stands up and waves to Choi to follow him. Choi throws a head kick that misses. Young gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Choi is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Young tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Choi swivels and escapes. Byung Soo Choi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Choi throws a powerful right kick. Young tried to block low but the kick was high! Young was taken right off of his feet! Choi jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Byung Soo Choi!
