Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jerald Mendoza (ranked 24744 p4p, 0 weight class) and CJ Miller (ranked 4709 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jerald Mendoza!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, CJ Miller!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Eddie Farnsworth and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendoza lands a head kick. Miller smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Miller closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mendoza quickly recovers to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miller prevents Mendoza from standing back up.
Miller landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Miller wants to work for an arm triangle but Mendoza is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Miller is taking a breather. Mendoza says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Miller is looking to take a break and control but Mendoza is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Miller goes for an armbar but Mendoza turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Mendoza.

Miller bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mendoza's guard.

Mendoza really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Mendoza is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Miller presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Mendoza tries to break the clinch but Miller is controlling the position.

Miller gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Miller should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Mendoza is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Miller is just riding it out for now. Mendoza eventually gives up the hold.

Miller works his way to full guard. Good work.
Mendoza is in close to Miller's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Mendoza will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Miller is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

CJ Miller has got the better of the ground game so far.

Miller seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mendoza does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Miller is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Miller is continuing to stall.
Miller drops an elbow to the side of Mendoza's head.
Miller looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Miller tries to stand and escape but Mendoza is controlling the position.

Miller wants to work for an arm triangle but Mendoza is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Miller is trying to control the action in half guard but Mendoza is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Mendoza is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Miller's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Miller's back!
Mendoza knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Miller on the ground.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
You can see the frustration on Miller's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Miller is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Miller rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

A close second round but CJ Miller will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Miller swats away the attempt to clinch by Mendoza.

Mendoza fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Miller, pushing him back against the cage.

Miller breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mendoza moves out of range as Miller throws a body kick.

Miller shoots in and gets a takedown into Mendoza's guard.

Mendoza manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Miller looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Miller is pressed up against the cage. Mendoza has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Miller down to the mat. Miller avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Mendoza throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Miller shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Miller accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Mendoza is trying to control the position but Miller postures up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Miller postures up in Mendoza's guard and throws a big left but Mendoza blocks it.
Jerald Mendoza has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
CJ Miller is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Miller postures up and lands a big shot to Mendoza's brow.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to CJ Miller.
I've got Miller winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
