Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tristan Assface (ranked 6563 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Santana (ranked 22597 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tristan Assface! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mario Santana! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santana tries to score a power double leg takedown but Assface sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Santana somewhat. Assface throws a sloppy head kick and Santana moves out of range easily. Assface has taken the fight to the clinch.
Assface prevents a takedown attempt there.
Santana blocks an uppercut.
Assface escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mario Santana seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Assface looks for a takedown but Santana sprawls well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Santana shoots in looking for a takedown but Assface manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Santana's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Tristan Assface has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mario Santana. Santana fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Assface to the ground. Santana is now in Assface's guard. Santana showing good wrestling skills to control the position. It looks like Santana might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Assface working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Santana doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Santana manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Santana working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Assface wants to get back to his feet but Santana is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Santana's corner is telling him to maintain position. Santana trying to control the position from guard on top but Assface is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Santana looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Assface throws his legs up looking for a submission but Santana uses it to pass to side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Assface is looking for a sweep. Assface is trying to control Santana's posture but Santana avoids it. Santana is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Assface is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Assface is trying to escape the position but Santana is controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santana trying to control the position but Assface is working away. Santana tries for a kimura but Assface is defending well. Santana advances to full mount. Santana working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Assface turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Santana off and cradles Assface's limp body as Santana celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Mario Santana!
