Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jeremiah Gilliam! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Adam Jackson! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Gilliam bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! Gilliam darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Jackson scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Gilliam manages to mount him!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gilliam has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jackson's face.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jackson prevents Gilliam from taking his back. Gilliam sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
That's one minute gone in the round. Gilliam raining down hammerfists from mount. Gilliam throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Gilliam with a couple of short strikes. Gilliam avoids the attempt from Jackson to control. Gilliam fails to advance to Jackson's back. The referee warns Jackson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Gilliam breaks from Jackson's wrist control and lands an elbow. Jackson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Gilliam throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Jackson wants to control but Gilliam is having none of it. Jackson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Gilliam sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Gilliam will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Jackson is looking to get to half guard. That's four minutes gone in the round. Gilliam is landing with some decent strikes but Jackson is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Jackson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Gilliam tries to control but Jackson wriggling away. Gilliam is really struggling to control Jackson but he's trying to hold on to the position. Gilliam fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Jeremiah Gilliam dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Gilliam gets a takedown into half guard. Jackson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gilliam is working away from the top position though. Gilliam looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jackson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Jeremiah Gilliam overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Gilliam throws a strike but Jackson avoids it easily and moves to full guard. Gilliam working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jackson has control of Gilliam's left arm, preventing Gilliam from doing any damage. Jackson wants to improve his position but instead Gilliam has moved into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Gilliam thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Jackson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gilliam is working away from the top position though. Jackson preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Jackson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gilliam circles away. Gilliam tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Jackson manages to circle out of the way. Jackson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Gilliam seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Jackson fails in his attempt to clinch. Jackson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gilliam swivels and escapes. Jeremiah Gilliam has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adam Jackson. Gilliam dives in and scores a takedown into Jackson's guard. Gilliam's corner is telling him to maintain position. The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Gilliam swats away the attempt to clinch by Jackson. Gilliam tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Jackson manages to circle out of the way. Jackson closes the distance looking to clinch and Gilliam counters with a leg kick. Gilliam checks the leg kick nicely there.

Jackson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Jackson sitting and controlling from the half guard. Jackson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Jackson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Gilliam throws a series of punches but Jackson avoids them all with ease. Adam Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jackson closes the distance and clinches up with Gilliam, looking for a takedown. Jackson pushes Gilliam against the cage but Gilliam circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Gilliam leaves Jackson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A head kick from Gilliam lands but Jackson takes it in his stride. Jackson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gilliam sprawls well. Gilliam wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jackson gets slowly back to his feet. Jeremiah Gilliam has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adam Jackson. Jackson darts in trying to clinch and Gilliam counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jackson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gilliam defends it nicely. Gilliam shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jackson's guard. Gilliam lands a couple of digs. Gilliam with a flurry of punches that miss. Gilliam chips away with some ground and pound.
