Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alberto Harrell (ranked 4794 p4p, 0 weight class) and William John (ranked 2612 p4p, 101 weight class). William John has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Alberto Harrell's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alberto Harrell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, William John!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Donatello Bradman and Ben Watson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
John tries to score a power double leg takedown but Harrell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten John somewhat.
John shoots in looking for a takedown but Harrell manages to keep the fight standing, pushing John's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Horrible takedown attempt by John or perhaps it was just good defense by Harrell, which made it look bad.
Harrell appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Alberto Harrell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of William John.
John closes the distance and clinches up with Harrell, looking for a takedown. John pushes Harrell against the cage but Harrell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

John moves into the clinch.
Harrell is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
John tries for a takedown but Harrell manages to get underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Harrell turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Harrell manages to end up in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harrell wants to lay and pray for a moment but John keeps working.

You can see the frustration on John's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Harrell throws an elbow but John slips to the side and avoids it well.

John managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Harrell.
Harrell misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
You can see the frustration on John's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
John pushes Harrell away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Harrell gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
I wouldn't like to be where John is right now.

Harrell thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed John's head.
Harrell thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

John is trying to stand back up but Harrell is controlling him

John manages to escape and get back to his feet!

Harrell shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Harrell is nestled in close to John, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
John is controlling Harrell's position as best he can from this difficult position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if John can do anything to dispel that myth.

Harrell is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and John defends it well.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Harrell throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. John tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Harrell is in John's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

John thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

and Harrell counters with a three punch combo that has John backing up. John nods at Harrell to acknowledge the strikes.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

John gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Harrell works on John's body with a couple of short punches.

That was a close second round but I would say that Alberto Harrell will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

John's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

John has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Harrell is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

John looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Harrell is fending him off so far but John persists. Nope, Harrell circles away and we're back to standing.
William John has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

It looked like Harrell was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Harrell tests John's chin there with a solid looking shot.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Alberto Harrell.
Well Harrell has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
