Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Alex Payne!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Shock Master!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Payne closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Master fails to land.
Master is trying to drag Payne to the mat but Payne just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Master tries to throw a body punch but Payne avoids it by throwing Master back against the cage.
Master misses with a hook from the clinch.
Payne blocking some punches.
Master misses with some punches.
A short left from Master.
Master misses with some punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Master trying to land knees to the body.
A short right from Master.
Master swings wildly with an uppercut but Payne uses good head movement to avoid it.
Payne dodges an elbow strike from Master.

Master lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Payne backwards.
Payne blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Master goes for a takedown attempt but Payne pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Payne takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Alex Payne seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Payne buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Master.
Payne blocks an uppercut.
Payne blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Master throws a punch but it's blocked by Payne.
Payne is trying to push Master away but Master has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Payne blocks a body shot from Master.

Payne prevents the takedown attempt.
Alex Payne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shock Master.
Master misses with a punch to the body.
With the fighters up against the cage, Master throws an elbow but misses.
Payne blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Master tries for a takedown but Payne manages to get underhooks.

Payne breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've been told by Payne's head coaches at UnderGround Wrestling and Jiu Jitsu that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Payne works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Payne misses with an uppercut.
Master dodges the punch combination from Payne.
Master scores with a sloppy right hand. Payne should have avoided that one.

Payne takes the fight into the clinch.
Payne blocks an uppercut.

Master misses with a short punch on the inside.
Payne is leaning against Master and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

A nice right hand lands inside from Master.
Master tries to work over Payne's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Payne escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Payne throws a quick inside leg kick.
Payne lands with a kick to the ribs.
Master looks winded!
Payne cracks Master with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.


It looks like Shock Master has been cut.
Payne throws a nice looking combination but Master bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Master looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Payne swats away the attempt to clinch by Master.

Payne gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Payne pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Master rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Payne moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Payne closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Master quickly recovers to half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Payne stands up and beckons Master to join him on the feet.
The fighters circling - Master throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Payne lands a nice leg kick that just misses Master's sensitive parts.
Payne connects with a single shot there.

Payne closes the distance and clinches.
Master misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Payne misses with a knee strike.
Master misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Payne.
Master fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
A nice right hand lands inside from Master.

Payne's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Payne lunges at Master with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Master's hand.

Payne lands a big right hand that sends Master crashing to the mat! Payne stays standing though and waves Master back to his feet!


Master is rocked!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Master paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Master works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Master lands with a good body shot.
Payne moves forwards but Master connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Payne thows a body kick. Master tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Master throws a looping overhand right but Payne ducks down to avoid it.
Payne thinks about countering with a head kick.

Payne rushes Master and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Master working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Master is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Master throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Payne is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Master can do to turn this around?
A nice left hand lands by Master.
Master is breathing heavily.

Payne escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Master moves forwards but Payne connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Master tries for a takedown but Payne circles away easily

and Payne counters with a nice right hand that sends Master toppling to the canvas! Master scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Payne finish him?!
Master is still on wobbly legs! Can Payne finish him?
Master leaves his chin hanging out and Payne seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Master crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Alex Payne!
Alex Payne retains his light heavyweight title!
A relieved looking Alex Payne thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
In defeat, Shock Master stepped up to the mic, saying 'Shit'.
