Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rod Stickmann (ranked 3816 p4p, 397 weight class) and Ruby Abdul (ranked 3916 p4p, 402 weight class). Ruby Abdul has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rod Stickmann!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ruby Abdul!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stickmann pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Stickmann is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Abdul.
Stickmann really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Stickmann throws a looping overhand right but Abdul ducks down to avoid it.
Abdul throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Stickmann throwing a counter right hand but Abdul manages to avoid it.
Abdul looks to land a combination but Stickmann avoids it well.
A little feinted left hand from Stickmann on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Stickmann looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Abdul moves forwards but Stickmann connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Stickmann misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
A little jabbing left from Abdul on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Stickmann lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Abdul thuds a left hand into Stickmann's body.

Abdul looks to land a combination but Stickmann avoids it well.
Abdul misses with a wild combination.
Stickmann blocks a head kick by Abdul.
Abdul throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Abdul avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ruby Abdul is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Abdul throws a lazy head kick
and Stickmann counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Abdul misses with a head kick.
Abdul tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Stickmann lands with a hook. Abdul tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Abdul moves away from the strike by Stickmann.
Abdul replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Stickmann blocks it well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stickmann misses with a looping right.
Stickmann will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Abdul tries to counter with a clinch but Stickmann shakes him off and moves away.
Stickmann throws a jab when Abdul was well out of range.

Stickmann fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Abdul to the ground. Stickmann is now in Abdul's guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Stickmann landing with the ground and pound.
Stickmann engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Stickmann's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Stickmann throws a big elbow that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stickmann lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Stickmann stops Abdul from standing up.
Stickmann working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Abdul looking for a sweep. Not yet Abdul, not yet.
Stickmann stands and throws Abdul's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Stickmann is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Abdul is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Abdul managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Stickmann.
Stickmann tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Abdul tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Abdul looks winded!
Abdul really wants to buck Stickmann off and get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Abdul takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Stickmann landing strikes from the mount and Abdul is in trouble!
Abdul is just holding on here. Stickmann manages to take his back.
Stickmann has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Stickmann is working for a rear naked choke. Abdul is not defending it well and Stickmann has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Abdul refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Abdul's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Rod Stickmann!
