Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kolbee Owens (ranked 2599 p4p, 287 weight class) and Scruffy Bushrod (ranked 2436 p4p, 273 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Owens might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Destroyer. Scruffy Bushrod will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Lou da Vinci and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bushrod scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
A slow jab from Owens misses its intended target.
Owens misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Bushrod.
Owens tests Bushrod's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Bushrod has taken the fight to the clinch.
Owens stalling in the clinch but Bushrod improves position.
Owens has picked Bushrod up - he's going for a ride! Owens dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Bushrod has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Owens is on him like a limpet, forcing Bushrod back against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Owens is trying to stall.

Owens has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bushrod is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Bushrod is trying to maintain a safe position but Owens gets an underhook and turns Bushrod into the cage.

We've been hearing reports that Owens has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.

Owens tightens his grip and picks Bushrod up, before dumping him to the ground. Bushrod manages to land in guard.
Bushrod not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Owens throws an elbow that misses. Bushrod uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Owens's guard. Nice move by Bushrod!
Owens throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bushrod escapes and throws Owens's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Owens tries to bench press Bushrod off him but Bushrod keeps the position.

Bushrod can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Owens is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Owens tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Scruffy Bushrod dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Owens jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Owens is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Bushrod felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Owens working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bushrod doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bushrod manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Owens has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Bushrod should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Owens has tightened it up now! Bushrod should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

As Kolbee Owens got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: I want Cabasa Punyawong. I don't care if he wins the belt or loses next week, I won't accept any fight other than him. I was robbed in my last fight. It won't happen again.'.
