Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kieran Tripper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jack Dawson! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Tarja Halkonen and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Both fighters are only really looking to counter, so after a good 30 seconds of circling eachother endlessly, the referee has stepped in and told them both to be more aggressive. Dawson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Tripper defends well and Dawson ends up having to push Tripper into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Tripper was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dawson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tripper sprawls well. Tripper wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dawson gets slowly back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dawson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Tripper. Dawson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tripper as he avoids it easily. A little feinted left hand from Tripper on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Kieran Tripper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Dawson. Tripper lands the left hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Tripper misses with a right hand and Dawson counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Dawson is working for a kimura but Tripper is defending it quite comfortably.
Tripper is controlling Dawson's trapped leg to prevent Dawson from advancing to side control. Tripper really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Dawson is thwarting Tripper's attempts to control the position. Dawson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Dawson in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Tripper tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Dawson!
