Coming up we have a lightweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Masa Wasa (ranked 1927 p4p, 103 weight class) and Aaron Hoyle (ranked 5303 p4p, 0 weight class). Wasa comes to the cage accompanied by Welcome To The Jungle. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 21 wins and 14 losses; Masa Wasa! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 12 wins and 3 losses; Aaron Hoyle! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Chris Edwards and Sam Margolis.
The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Wasa shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hoyle napping and manages to drive through into side control! Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: Wasa (4) vs (0) Hoyle Hoyle tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Wasa wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Hoyle manages to work his way to half guard, despite Wasa's best efforts. Wasa is keen to just control but Hoyle is a slippery customer. Hoyle is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Wasa is trying to work for a kimura but Hoyle is defending well.
Hoyle makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hoyle. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wasa stopping the sweep attempt from Hoyle. That's one minute gone in the round. Hoyle bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Wasa's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wasa is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Hoyle wants to improve his position but Wasa is controlling well.

No, Hoyle has managed to free his arm - good work. Wasa wants to pass the guard but Hoyle is defending well. Hoyle is looking to improve his position.

He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Wasa's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Hoyle. Hoyle got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wasa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hoyle has managed to get both his arms back between Wasa's legs - danger averted. Wasa can't keep his opponent in guard - Hoyle advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Hoyle wants to pass the guard but Wasa is defending well. Wasa looking for submissions off his back.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Wasa is refusing to be controlled, as Hoyle sits in half guard. Wasa won't allow Hoyle to pass to mount. Wasa is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Hoyle trying to control from half guard but Wasa is working away. Hoyle controlling the action here.

That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Hoyle is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Wasa off and has taken his back! Score +4 for clean sweep to past guard: Wasa (23) vs (8) Hoyle Wasa has hold of Hoyle's leg, trying to break free but it's let Hoyle lock up a rear naked choke! This could be big trouble! Wasa is turning an unusual color here… he's out! Hoyle throws him to one side and jumps onto the cage to celebrate with his fans.

Aaron Hoyle really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Sportivité logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty. |
