The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mitokoshiak shoots for a takedown but Novez saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Novez.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mitokoshiak scores with a hook to the body. Novez takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Mitokoshiak closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mitokoshiak lands in his opponent's guard.
Novez is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Novez wants to sweep here but Mitokoshiak controlling him for the moment.

Mitokoshiak stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Novez swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Novez doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Mitokoshiak got a little sloppy there for a moment and Novez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mitokoshiak has managed to get both his arms back between Novez's legs - danger averted.
Mitokoshiak knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Novez on the ground.

Novez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mitokoshiak defends well.

Novez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Mitokoshiak doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Mitokoshiak manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Novez is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Mitokoshiak frees his head nicely. Oh but Novez has switched to an armbar! Mitokoshiak is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
