CACC 18 PBP Commentary


Coming up we have a middleweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Oscar Stolt (ranked 6208 p4p, 492 weight class) and Carlos Silverio (ranked 5927 p4p, 484 weight class). Silverio is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Shiro Sagisu - Angel of Doom. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the middleweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 1 losses; Oscar Stolt! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 17 wins and 11 losses; Carlos Silverio!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Stolt closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes.
Silverio tries for a takedown. No joy.
Silverio gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Stolt.

Silverio jumps into guard, dragging Stolt to the mat.
Stolt preventing the sweep.
Silverio is pulling down on Stolt's head to control his posture.
Stolt passes Silverio's left leg - he's now in half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silverio is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Stolt is keen to just control but Silverio is a slippery customer.

Stolt seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Silverio manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Stolt manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Silverio pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stolt is keeping the position for now.

Silverio wants to control from the top but Stolt keeps moving.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Stolt is looking for a sweep.

Silverio is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Stolt's shoulder. That is not cool.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Silverio wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stolt keeps working.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Silverio tries to move to full mount but Stolt actually manages to regain half guard.
Silverio is trying to control the action in half guard but Stolt is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Stolt wants to control but Silverio is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Silverio wants to work for an arm triangle but Stolt is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Silverio is pressing down on Stolt's thigh, looking to free his foot. Stolt is holding on for now.
Silverio is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Silverio passes into side control, despite Stolt's attempt to control the position.

Silverio felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

I really don't envy Silverio right now.
Silverio rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Stolt trying to control the position from guard on top but Silverio is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Silverio isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Stolt stacks Silverio on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Stolt!

Silverio tries to bench press Stolt off him but Stolt keeps the position.

Silverio is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Stolt off and has taken his back!

Stolt is in a bad position with Silverio working for a choke. Stolt manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.

Silverio wants to hit a switch here but Stolt passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Silverio there!

Silverio sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Stolt taps out!
