Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Professor Xe (ranked 352 p4p, 50 weight class) and Kal Valen (ranked 1614 p4p, 184 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Valen tries to kick Xe off but Xe keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Xe passes to side control.
Valen wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Xe is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Valen is trying to escape and Xe transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Valen is forced to tap! Nice work there by Xe! Very nice indeed!
