Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andrew Robertson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jeff Warren! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Warren connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Robertson momentarily.
Jeff Warren seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Warren will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Robertson appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Warren forces Robertson back against the cage and clinches. Robertson wants a takedown but no success here.
Robertson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Warren avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Warren is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Robertson goes for a takedown attempt but Warren pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Andrew Robertson. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Warren feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Robertsons jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
That's one minute gone in the round. Warren tries to bum rush Robertson with a series of wild strikes but Robertson uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Robertson feinted with a counter takedown. A big left from Warren misses. Robertson half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Warren works the jab nicely. Warren rushes Robertson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Warren creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Warren's coach down at Island Hammers Fight Camp was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Warren's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Robertson wants a takedown but no success here.
Warren breaks from the clinch.
Warren misses with an uppercut. Robertson saw that one coming. Warren throws a good cross that connects.
Robertson takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Warren instigates a clinch. Warren tries to work over Robertson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Warren lands a body punch. Robertson looking for a takedown. This has been an exciting period of action! With the fighters up against the cage, Warren throws an elbow but misses. Warren stalling in the clinch.
Warren escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Robertson takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Robertson is rocked! Robertson loses concentration momentarily and Warren pounces with a three punch combo! Right, left, right! Robertson crashes face first to the mat, out cold! Warren finishes this one with a fantastically precise combo! Great stuff.
