Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hassan Van Den Berg! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ferdinand Marquez! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Van Den Berg throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Marquez. Van Den Berg on the wrong end of a nice hook. Van Den Berg with a hook. Van Den Berg misses with a jab, cross combination.

Marquez throws out a token jab with nothing on it. A punch combination from Marquez misses. Van Den Berg looks to land a right hand but Marquez moved out of range. A telegraphed right hand from Marquez misses the target. It looked like Van Den Berg was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Marquez waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Van Den Berg. Van Den Berg connects with a crisp jab. Marquez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Van Den Berg throws a series of punches but Marquez avoids them all with ease. Marquez looks like he wants to counter punch here. Marquez connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Marquez with a hook. Van Den Berg lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Marquez circles away quickly and effectively. Marquez tries to bum rush Van Den Berg with a series of wild strikes but Van Den Berg uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Van Den Berg throws a right hand that Marquez ducks under and follows up with a left that Marquez also avoids with ease. Marquez missing with a left hand there. Van Den Berg was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Marquez walks into a jab. Marquez throws a shot from downtown. Van Den Berg moves away and avoids it. Van Den Berg went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected. Marquez misses with a few strikes there.
Marquez looks to land a right hand but Van Den Berg moved out of range. Van Den Berg misses with a hook. Marquez ducked under it nicely. Marquez throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Marquez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Van Den Berg. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Van Den Berg is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Marquez is controlling him. Marquez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Marquez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Marquez looking to pass the guard. Marquez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Van Den Berg wants to stand but Marquez is controlling the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Van Den Berg slips under a jab from Marquez. Marquez avoids a punch combination nicely.
It seemed like Marquez was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Van Den Berg lands a head shot. Marquez jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Marquez misses with the combination.

Marquez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Van Den Berg, who protects the arm well. Van Den Berg is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Marquez has just dragged him back down to the mat. Marquez tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

He has the arm isolated but Van Den Berg is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Van Den Berg is trying to get back to his feet. Marquez tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Van Den Berg is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Marquez is working for what looks like an arm triangle here.
