5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Patty O Reilly! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Roosa Järviläinen and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A swing and a miss from Russell. Russell throws an uppercut from half a mile away. O Reilly sees it coming and avoids it easily. O Reilly throws a hook to the side of Russell's head but Russell sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. O Reilly lands a head shot. Russell tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but O Reilly was well out of range. Poor timing from Russell. O Reilly gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Russell changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. O Reilly looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Russell is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but O Reilly is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. O Reilly tries to buck Russell off but Russell is having none of it. Russell is trying to land an Americana. It looks like Patty O Reilly has been cut. Russell throws a shot from downtown. O Reilly moves away and avoids it. O Reilly with a jab. Russell is really dominating this fight. O Reilly changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Russell looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. A swing and a miss from Russell. Jab, jab by O Reilly - just one landing. O Reilly uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Russell.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. O Reilly scores with a jab. O Reilly blocks a jab. And O Reilly tries to counter it with a takedown but Russell pushes his down on his head and steps out. O Reilly dips down and scores with a jab to the body. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Russell takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. O Reilly misses with a body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. O Reilly jabs Russell to the body, keeping him at a distance. Russell looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. O Reilly steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Russell. Deviante Russell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Russell bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Russell staying out of range there. Russell misses with an uppercut. The fighters circle momentarily. O Reilly darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Russell doesn't manage to clinch there - O Reilly circles away.

O Reilly doesn't seem bothered though. O Reilly scores with a jab. Russell acknowledges it with a nod of the head. O Reilly walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Russell ducks down and throws a hook to the body but O Reilly moves away. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Russell blocks a jab. O Reilly moves forwards but Russell connects with a nice, crisp jab. Russell closes the distance and pushes O Reilly back into the cage. A head punch blocked on the inside by O Reilly. O Reilly jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Russell walks away with a smile on his face. O Reilly gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Russell swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Russell looks to score with a jab to the body but O Reilly is just out of range. Russell lands a jab to the nose. Russell misses with a straight right. Russell throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
O Reilly looks to throw the jab but Russell is out of range. Deviante Russell is winning the standup battle so far. O Reilly takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Russell throws a hook but O Reilly blocks it. O Reilly tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. O Reilly throws a lazy right hand but Russell sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Good standup being displayed there by Russell as he connects with a hook. O Reilly feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. O Reilly content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. O Reilly drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Russell manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now O Reilly has Russell in his guard.
O Reilly looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Russell has picked O Reilly up and slammed him! O Reilly can't keep hold of the triangle and Russell manages to pass to side control! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. O Reilly manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! O Reilly not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. O Reilly looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Russell with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. O Reilly working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. The fighters are battling for position here. Russell manages to regain full guard. Nice work. O Reilly throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Russell works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Russell escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. O Reilly gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. O Reilly landing some decent shots from guard. Patty O Reilly has got the better of the ground game so far. Russell wants to sweep but no luck. Russell throws his legs up looking for a submission but O Reilly uses it to pass to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Patty O Reilly will probably get the nod - 10:9. The cut man is working on Patty O Reilly's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Russell throws a looping overhand right but O Reilly ducks down to avoid it. Russell is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by O Reilly. Russell throws a combination. O Reilly tries to block but a couple of punches get through. O Reilly scores with a jab to the head.
Russell takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Russell ducks right into an uppercut from O Reilly. O Reilly might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Russell misses the shot to the body. O Reilly takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. O Reilly misses with a straight left. Russell uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before O Reilly has time to react. O Reilly shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Russell looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

O Reilly trying to control the position from guard on top but Russell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. O Reilly with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. O Reilly connects with a couple of short punches. Russell manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. O Reilly manages to get himself to full guard.
O Reilly pushes a forearm under Russell's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Russell is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Patty O Reilly! Patty O Reilly decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
