Coming up we have a middleweight kickboxing rules bout between Kyle Kovingten (ranked 23238 p4p, 568 weight class) and Arlind Abazaj (ranked 23830 p4p, 566 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kyle Kovingten! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arlind Abazaj! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kovingten throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Abazaj tries to clinch but Kovingten moves out of range. Kovingten swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Abazaj lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. The crowd cheers as Kovingten lands an impressive looking overhand right. Abazaj doesn't seem phased though. Kovingten throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Abazaj swings for the body but Kovingten moves out of range.
Abazaj takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Abazaj throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Kovingten is looking to counter with a shot to the body. Abazaj misses with a wild body shot. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Abazaj is looking to clinch. Abazaj throws a body shot but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kovingten throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Kovingten throws a jab but it's blocked by Abazaj. Kovingten throws a right and a left that Abazaj avoids nicely. Abazaj's jab looks to have found its range, popping Kovingten under the eye. Abazaj defending well as Kovingten loads up on a big left hand. Kovingten blocks a head kick by Abazaj.

It looks like Arlind Abazaj has been cut. Kovingten lands with a nice combination. Abazaj backs away looking to recover. Abazaj throws a wild body kick that Kovingten sees coming a mile off. Kovingten swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect. Kovingten ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Kyle Kovingten seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Abazaj throws a leg kick but Kovingten moved away. Kovingten throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Abazaj throws out a counter right but Kovingten avoids it with no problem. Kovingten throws a big shot that misses. It seemed like Abazaj was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Kovingten throws a hook but Abazaj avoids it easily. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Abazaj. Abazaj scores with a punch to the head. A head kick misses from Abazaj. Kovingten throws out a loose jab but Abazaj uses good head movement to avoid it. Kovingten backing away here, and Abazaj unleashes a leg kick that just misses. Kovingten lands a high kick!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Kovingten throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Abazaj cracks Kovingten with a right hand to the side of the head. Kovingten pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Kovingten tries to bum rush Abazaj with a series of wild strikes but Abazaj uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Abazaj drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Abazaj is rocked! BAM! Kovingten delivers a spinning backfist that drops Abazaj like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Spinning Backfist). Kyle Kovingten! Kyle Kovingten tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
