PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Luke Neil (ranked 1865 p4p, 230 weight class) and Kyle Walker (ranked 3062 p4p, 346 weight class). Neil kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Linkin Park - In the end. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Kyle Walker enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Neil misses with a double jab.
Walker is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Neil throws a series of punches but Walker avoids them all with ease. Walker changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Neil throws a right and a left that both miss. We've been hearing reports that Neil has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Neil throws a leg kick and Walker counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Neil! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Walker tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Walker swings around for an armbar but Neil sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Walker's guard. Neil not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Walker is looking to sweep but instead, Neil has passed into half guard.
Walker tries to roll over but Neil keeps him under control. Neil sitting and controlling from the half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Neil not landing any meaningful shots this time. Walker works his way to full guard. Good work. Walker has his feet on Neil's thighs here. He's pushed Neil off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Neil screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kyle Walker! A very excited looking Kyle Walker made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
