Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Maynard Clay (ranked 4751 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Dapper (ranked 5082 p4p, 0 weight class). Dan Dapper will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Maynard Clay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dan Dapper!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clay throws out a loose jab but Dapper uses good head movement to avoid it.
Dapper circles away from the clinch attempt.

Dapper closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Clay to the mat! Clay manages to get full guard.
Clay avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Clay trying to control the position.
Clay working a defensive guard but Dapper passes into half guard.
Dapper trying to mount his opponent but Clay defends it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dapper landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Clay has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dapper is working away from the top position though.
Clay might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Dapper content to control rather than advance.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Dapper connects with a nice short shot to Clay's temple.
Clay is trying to stand.
Dapper has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Clay works to full guard.
Clay is trying to control the position but Dapper postures up.
Dapper is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Dapper passes Clay's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Clay regains full guard. Nicely done.

Dapper stands up over Clay, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Clay is looking to stand up but Dapper isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Dapper drives through with a takedown into Clay's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Clay is wriggling around but Dapper manages to pass to half guard.

Dapper tries to pass the half guard into mount. Clay knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Dapper wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Clay uses the opportunity to regain full guard.

Dapper lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Clay can't keep his opponent in guard - Dapper advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Dapper takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Dapper is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Dapper tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Clay tries to kick Dapper off but Dapper keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Dapper dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Dapper closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Clay has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Dapper is on him like a limpet, forcing Clay back against the cage.
Dapper misses with a punch to the body.
Clay goes for a takedown in the clinch but Dapper prevents it.

Dapper decides to pull guard.
Clay trying to control the position from guard on top but Dapper is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Clay postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Dapper is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Clay, into his guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dapper controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Dapper avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Clay is looking to stand up but Dapper isn't so interested in that idea.
Clay utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Dapper stands and throws Clay's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Clay is looking to reverse the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Dapper tries to stand but Clay is controlling his head.
Dapper in side control lands a decent elbow.

Dapper has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Dapper creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Clay sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Clay is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Dapper is controlling him well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dapper tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Dapper throws an elbow but Clay slips to the side and avoids it well.
Dapper is chipping away with strikes.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Dapper has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Clay!
Clay in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Dan Dapper showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Dapper instigates a clinch.
Clay fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Dapper jumps guard.
Dapper pulls Clay in close to prevent any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Clay throws an elbow that misses. Dapper uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Clay's guard. Nice move by Dapper!

Dapper with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Dapper wants to get up but he can't break Clay's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Clay wants to sweep but no luck.
Clay wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Dapper is now in half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dapper wants to stand up but Clay has a hold of him and won't allow it.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Dapper not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Clay wants to get back to his feet.

Dapper is working for a kimura but Clay is defending it quite comfortably.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Dapper in particular looking to stall.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Dapper takes the fight into the clinch.
Dapper gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Clay.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Dapper drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Dapper is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Clay knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Dan Dapper comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dapper has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
