Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jonash Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jonathan Boaler! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Santiago Holmes and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boaler changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Johnson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Boaler wants to lay and pray for a moment but Johnson keeps working. Boaler working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Johnson gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Boaler wants to pass the guard but Johnson is defending well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Boaler pulls his head out easily. Johnson actively working from the bottom here. Boaler is looking for a kimura here.
Boaler is taking a breather. Johnson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Boaler's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Boaler's back! Johnson keeps control of the position as Boaler tries to break free.
Boaler is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Boaler wants to control his opponent's hands but Johnson gets his hands free. Johnson has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Boaler trying to control the action but Johnson just sinks the hooks in. Boaler preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Johnson. Boaler rolls, trying to escape but Johnson keeps control of the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson looking for the choke from the back. Boaler is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Boaler turns into Johnson and is now in his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Boaler pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Johnson is keeping the position for now. Boaler slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Johnson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Johnson is looking for a triangle but Boaler pushes his legs off easily.
Boaler advances to half guard. Boaler looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Boaler is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Boaler is trying to work for a kimura but Johnson is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Johnson actively working from the bottom here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Johnson looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Johnson tries to roll over but Boaler keeps him under control. Boaler is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Boaler is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Boaler trying to control the action but Johnson is working from the bottom. Boaler is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Johnson defends it well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Johnson looking for submissions off his back. Boaler is working for a kimura but Johnson is defending it quite comfortably.

Johnson is pressing down on Boaler's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Boaler thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Boaler got a little sloppy there for a moment and Johnson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Boaler has managed to get both his arms back between Johnson's legs - danger averted. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Jonathan Boaler will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Boaler tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Boaler darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Johnson looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Johnson looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Johnson looking to force a kimura from the bottom here. He's concentrating on that move too much though and Boaler pushes past his half guard into mount! Boaler looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Boaler tries to control but Johnson wriggling away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Johnson is desperately trying to improve his position but Boaler has a good base and remains in mount. Boaler is trying to take his opponent's back.
Boaler swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
