The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Daniel Franklin and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmidt closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Schmidt breaks the clinch.
Gracie looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Alonzo Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Schmidt connects with an inside leg kick.
Schmidt connects with a high kick.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Schmidt has eaten all the pies!
Schmidt stuffs the takedown attempt from Gracie . Gracie gets slowly back to his feet.
Schmidt closes the distance and pushes Gracie back into the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Schmidt is defending well.

A right hook to the body lands for Schmidt.

Gracie goes for a double leg but Schmidt avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Schmidt continues to drive forward.

Schmidt darts in and clinches Gracie up against the cage.

Gracie changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Schmidt fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Schmidt pushes Gracie up against the cage in a clinch.
Schmidt pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gracie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Schmidt counters with a nice low kick that buckles Gracie 's knee momentarily.
Schmidt gets a clinch.
Schmidt breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Schmidt leaves Gracie with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Gracie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Schmidt counters with a series of strikes. Gracie will be more careful next time no doubt.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gracie takes an elbow to the temple.
Schmidt drags the fight down to the ground.
Schmidt is looking to stand up but Gracie isn't so interested in that idea.
Gracie wants to pass the guard but Schmidt is keeping the position.
Gracie controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
David Schmidt dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

and Schmidt counters with a left and a right that stings Gracie .
Schmidt tries to clinch but Gracie moves out of range.

Schmidt pulls guard successfully.
Schmidt can't keep his opponent in guard - Gracie advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Gracie is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Schmidt is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gracie wants to control the pace but Schmidt is squirming around nicely.
Gracie looking to isolate an arm here. Schmidt doesn't see it coming and as Gracie extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Gracie !
