Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Ryan (ranked 3706 p4p, 329 weight class) and Chris Moxley (ranked 4746 p4p, 380 weight class). Ryan comes to the cage accompanied by No Limit. Jake Ryan has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Ryan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Moxley!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ryan tries to keep at a distance but Moxley has taken the fight into the clinch.
Moxley jumps guard but Ryan turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Moxley tries to break the clinch but Ryan is controlling the position.
Moxley has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Ryan tries to pull guard but Moxley forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Moxley successfully pulls guard.

Moxley had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Ryan defends it easily.
Ryan postures up in Moxley's guard and throws a big left but Moxley blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Moxley wants to sweep here but Ryan controlling him for the moment.
Moxley is pulling down on Ryan's head. It's preventing any offense from Ryan, at least for the moment.
Ryan passes into half guard.

Ryan stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Moxley to get to his feet.
Ryan shoots in for a double leg but Moxley sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Moxley fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Ryan shoots in looking for a takedown but Moxley manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Ryan's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jake Ryan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ryan fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
As Ryan backs off Moxley throws a huge counter combo but Ryan manages to avoid it all.
Jake Ryan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ryan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Moxley, pushing him back against the cage.
Moxley tries to work over Ryan's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Ryan jumps into guard, dragging Moxley to the mat.
Ryan wants to sweep but no luck.

Moxley trying to control the position from guard on top but Ryan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Moxley decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ryan, up you get!
Moxley is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ryan circles away from the clinch attempt.
Horrible takedown attempt by Moxley or perhaps it was just good defense by Ryan, which made it look bad.
Moxley doesn't succeed with the takedown
letting Ryan counter with a right hand.
Ryan throws a right and a left that Moxley avoids nicely.

Ryan moves into the clinch.

Moxley breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Moxley is looking to clinch but Ryan is avoiding it.
Ryan is trying hard to land a takedown here. Moxley sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
And Moxley tries to counter it with a takedown but Ryan pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Ryan shoots in but Moxley avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Moxley only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Moxley tries a head kick but it misses.
Ryan slaps away a takedown attempt from Moxley, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Moxley wants to clinch
and Moxley takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Moxley gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Ryan counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Moxley thinking.
Moxley steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Ryan. That one must have hurt.
Moxley looks winded!
Ryan fails with the takedown.
Ryan sets himself, and Moxley steps forward looking for the clinch! Ryan avoids it this time.

Moxley pushes Ryan up against the cage in a clinch.

Ryan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Moxley tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Ryan counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Ryan looks for a takedown but Moxley sprawls well.

Moxley clinches with his opponent.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ryan tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Ryan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A head kick misses from Ryan.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Ryan dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Ryan rushes Moxley and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Ryan looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Ryan is looking to take this one to the mat.

Ryan is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Moxley can do to turn this around?

Ryan manages to break the clinch.
Jake Ryan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Moxley stalks Ryan and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ryan's face. Ryan staggers backwards, shaken.
Moxley dives in for a single leg takedown but Ryan sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Moxley shoots in for a double leg but Ryan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ryan throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Jake Ryan is winning the standup battle so far.
Ryan will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice takedown defense from Moxley. No joy for Ryan on that attempt.

and Ryan counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Ryan escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Moxley is defended easily by Ryan.

Moxley goes for a takedown in the clinch but Ryan prevents it.

Ryan dodges the punch combination from Moxley.
Ryan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Moxley tries to avoid it but Ryan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Moxley to the ground. Moxley escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Horrible takedown attempt by Ryan or perhaps it was just good defense by Moxley, which made it look bad.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Ryan.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ryan leaves Moxley with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Moxley changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ryan tries to avoid it but Moxley manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ryan to the ground. Ryan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

No joy there for Ryan, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Moxley will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ryan stuns Moxley with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Ryan lands a jab-cross combination.
Ryan has his takedown stuffed
and Moxley counters with a right hand to the body.

Ryan is looking for a sweep. Moxley is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ryan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Ryan gets back to full guard.

Moxley got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ryan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Moxley has managed to get both his arms back between Ryan's legs - danger averted.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Moxley wants to control from the top but Ryan keeps moving.

Moxley is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Moxley gets to his feet - Ryan follows without any prompting.

An attempted straight right counter from Ryan misses the target.
Moxley shoots in looking for a takedown. Ryan tries to sprawl out of it but Moxley keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ryan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Ryan throws a big counter combination but Moxley scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

Ryan closes the distance and clinches.

Ryan tries to score a body lock takedown but Moxley shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Ryan fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Ryan tries to pull guard but Moxley forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ryan, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
