2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jeremiah Gilliam! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ross Risdon! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Risdon is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gilliam's half guard. Gilliam is trying to control but can't.
Gilliam makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gilliam. Gilliam trying to keep a closed guard but Risdon is proving a slippery customer.
Risdon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Risdon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Gilliam has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Risdon has managed to get both his arms back between Gilliam's legs - danger averted. Risdon avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gilliam thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Risdon's corner is telling him to maintain position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Risdon wants to stand but Gilliam has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Risdon stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Gilliam throws up his legs and catches Risdon in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Risdon tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Gilliam! That came out of nowhere!
