Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ryu Aokison (ranked 43 p4p, 7 weight class) and Gideon Navarro (ranked 115 p4p, 20 weight class). Aokison's entrance music is Caroline. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
23 - 16 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ryu Aokison! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gideon Navarro! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aokison shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Aokison was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Navarro is looking for a sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Navarro managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Aokison.
Navarro is pushing Aokison's head away, looking to escape. Aokison manages to hold on to the position though. Aokison staying calm. Navarro tries to buck Aokison off but Aokison is having none of it. Aokison has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Aokison misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Aokison cracks Navarro with an elbow. That is naaassty. Aokison lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Navarro gets back to full guard.
Navarro is pulling down on Aokison's head. It's preventing any offense from Aokison, at least for the moment. Aokison is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aokison seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Navarro for as long as he can get away with. Aokison is looking to work some ground and pound but Navarro has wrist control. Navarro avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Navarro is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Navarro throws a series of punches but Aokison avoids them all with ease. As Navarro tries to get set, Aokison tries to push him back and clinch up but Navarro manages to avoid the attempt. Aokison throws out a leg kick but Navarro moves out of range and Aokison only half commits. Aokison moves out of the way of the counter high kick fromNavarro. That's four minutes gone in the round. Aokison tries to close the distance and clinch but Navarro swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Navarro takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

A close second round but Gideon Navarro will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Aokison's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Navarro has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Aokison finds it's way round the side to connect with Navarro's head. Nice shot by Aokison. That's one minute gone in the round. Aokison is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Navarro is looking to stand up but Aokison won't let him. Navarro decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Aokison, up you get! Navarro misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Aokison lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head. Aokison looks to land a left hand but Navarro moved out of range nicely. Navarro throws out a counter right but Aokison avoids it with no problem. Aokison clinches up with Navarro and pushes him back against the cage. Aokison taking a breather.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aokison has hold of one of Navarro's legs. Navarro is fighting the takedown attempt but Aokison gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Aokison throwing strikes but missing. Navarro looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Navarro throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Ryu Aokison is winning the standup battle so far. Aokison moves out of range of the strikes. A good leg kick by Aokison. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Aokison cracks the inside of Navarro's front leg. Navarro on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Aokison. Aokison obviously looking to wear him down.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Navarro takes one to the side of the head.
Nice straight punches there by Aokison. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Aokison. Aokison shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Navarro as he avoids it easily. Navarro looks like he wants to counter punch here. Navarro moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Navarro shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Aokison is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Aokison comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Navarro swings for the body but Aokison moves out of range.
Navarro blocks a low kick nicely. Navarro throws a big counter head kick but Aokison avoids it with no problem. Aokison looks to throw the jab but Navarro is out of range. Aokison tries to score a body lock takedown but Navarro shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Navarro manages to break the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Navarro throws a push kick but Aokison slaps the foot to one side. Aokison ducks under a wild hook from Navarro. Aokison throwing a counter right hand but Navarro manages to avoid it. Navarro thows a left - swing and a miss! Aokison wants to clinch up but Navarro keeps it at a distance. Aokison looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Navarro is fending him off so far but Aokison persists. Nope, Navarro circles away and we're back to standing. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ryu Aokison. That's going to take a lot out of him. Aokison tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Navarro is able to avoid easily. Navarro doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Navarro walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Navarro checks a leg kick. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Navarro! But no joy. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Navarro lands with a slapping head kick.
It looks like Ryu Aokison has been cut. Aokison rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
enabling Navarro to counter with a crisp jab. Ryu Aokison seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aokison drops his hands momentarily and Navarro needs no second invitation. He sets himself and throws a perfect high kick, that clips Aokison just on the top of the head. Aokison drops like a sack of potatoes to the canvas, out cold! Oooooooh yeah! Stick a fork in Aokison - he's done!
