PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cole Neguinho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dog Gamma (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cole Neguinho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dog Gamma!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Mauricio Rocha and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Neguinho lunges at Gamma with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Gamma's hand.
Neguinho fails to land with a series of punches.
Gamma showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Neguinho.

Gamma decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Gamma is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Gamma passes the guard and advances to mount!
Neguinho is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Gamma throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Neguinho really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Neguinho wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Gamma.
Neguinho avoids a series of strikes thrown by Gamma.
Gamma throwing strikes here but Neguinho is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Gamma wants to control the pace but Neguinho is squirming around nicely.

Gamma is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Neguinho can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Gamma prevents Neguinho from getting the reversal.
Gamma lands a heavy elbow.


It looks like Cole Neguinho has been cut.
Gamma thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Gamma can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Neguinho is looking to escape.
Gamma avoids the attempt from Neguinho to control.
Gamma landing strikes from the mount and Neguinho is in trouble!


Cole Neguinho's cut is getting worse.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gamma throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Neguinho because Gamma loaded up on that one.

Gamma has hold of Neguinho's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Neguinho manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Gamma wants to control the pace but Neguinho is squirming around nicely.
Poor strikes thrown by Gamma there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Gamma goes for an armbar but Neguinho turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Neguinho.
Neguinho tries to stand but Gamma is controlling from the bottom.
Gamma is trying to keep Neguinho in close.
Neguinho is looking to stand up but Gamma won't let him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dog Gamma dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Cole Neguinho's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Neguinho gets caught flat footed, as Gamma shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Gamma trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Gamma trying to control but Neguinho is working from the bottom.

Gamma is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Neguinho is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Neguinho has escaped and now he's on top!

Gamma is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Gamma escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Neguinho gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Gamma had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Neguinho is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Gamma Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Neguinho's back instead.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Gamma looking for the choke from the back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Gamma trying to control momentarily.
Gamma gets his hands free as Neguinho looks to control.
Gamma trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Neguinho doesn't escape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here.

Neguinho is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Gamma gets his way!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Gamma connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Neguinho to escape the position.
Gamma misses with an elbow to the head.

Gamma is persistently looking for the submission but Neguinho is defending it well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Neguinho is in a bad position with Gamma working for a choke. Neguinho manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dog Gamma showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Neguinho will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Neguinho misses with a jab, cross combination.
Gamma avoids a punch combination nicely.

Gamma shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Gamma thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Neguinho wants to hold on but Gamma pushes him away.
Gamma looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.


Cole Neguinho's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Cole Neguinho's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Dog Gamma!
