Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Fernando Mendes (ranked 3738 p4p, 393 weight class) and Marchiano Giovinazzi (ranked 4126 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fernando Mendes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Marchiano Giovinazzi!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Wesley Smith and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Giovinazzi shoots in but no luck this time.
Giovinazzi shoots in looking for a takedown. Mendes tries to sprawl out of it but Giovinazzi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Mendes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mendes changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Mendes shoots in and gets a takedown into Giovinazzi's guard.
Giovinazzi will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Mendes passes Giovinazzi's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Giovinazzi flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Giovinazzi moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Mendes drops back looking for a leg! Giovinazzi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Giovinazzi manages to kick Mendes off! Mendes jumps back into Giovinazzi's guard.
Mendes works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mendes looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
