Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
33 - 18 - 1, fighting out of New York, Azar Qasi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 7 - 1, fighting out of New York, Motu Te Tai! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Dean Styles and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Te Tai throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Te Tai misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Qasi throwing a counter right hand but Te Tai manages to avoid it. Te Tai tries a head kick but it misses.
Te Tai throws a head kick but Qasi moves out of range.
Te Tai throws a lazy head kick and Qasi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Te Tai tries to close the distance and clinch but Qasi swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. A shot to the liver by Qasi. Beautiful body shot. A slow jab from Te Tai misses its intended target. Qasi works over Te Tai's head and body with a nice combination.
It looks like Motu Te Tai has been cut. Qasi throws a sloppy head kick and Te Tai moves out of range easily. Qasi throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Te Tai tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Qasi is in Te Tai's guard. Te Tai is looking to stand back up but Qasi counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Te Tai. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Qasi is figuring out what he wants to do next. Te Tai pushes Qasi off, looking to escape but Qasi dives into side control. He's locked up a kimura now - that was fast! He's cranking on it and Te Tai is forced to tap! The fight is over!
