Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Derek Hui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felipe Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Silva has chosen Agressão/Repressão as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Derek Hui!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Felipe Silva!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hui throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Hui bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Hui shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hui showed some decent athleticism there.
Silva gets back to full guard.
Silva looks gassed!
Silva is looking for a triangle but Hui pushes his legs off easily.
Hui slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hui accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hui has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hui avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hui is stalling in the full guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Hui stands and throws Silva's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Hui tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Hui has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Hui has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Silva sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Hui rushes Silva and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Hui's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hui fails to land with a series of punches.
Hui scores a takedown into full mount!

Hui is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Hui gets the takedown into side control.
Silva is trying to escape the position but Hui is controlling the position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hui has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Derek Hui dominated that round.
That's time! Hui's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Hui misses with a head kick.
Hui throws a push kick but Silva slaps the foot to one side.
Hui misses with a few strikes there.
Silva avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hui throws a right hand that Silva ducks under and follows up with a left that Silva also avoids with ease.
Hui darts in and clinches Silva up against the cage.
Hui manages to break the clinch.
Hui throws a head kick that misses.
Silva shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Hui counters with a head kick that drops Silva - he's looking to finish, following his stunned foe to the ground!
Silva is breathing heavily.
Hui not doing much here.
Hui is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Silva sees it coming and defends easily.

Hui is taking a breather. Silva says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Silva wants to get back to full guard.
Hui trying to control the pace.
Hui decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Derek Hui is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hui closes the distance and pushes Silva back into the cage.
Hui has hold of one of Silva's legs. Silva is fighting the takedown attempt but Hui gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Hui is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Hui passes Silva's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Hui seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Derek Hui just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Hui throws the kick towards the body but Silva avoids it.

Hui misses the shot to the body.
Hui scores a takedown into full mount!
Hui get's back to his feet.
Hui clinches up with Silva and pushes him back against the cage.
Hui breaks the clinch.
Hui throws a half hearted mid kick.
Hui throws a body kick that misses.
Silva on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Hui closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Derek Hui overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hui gets a takedown into half guard.
Silva won't allow Hui to pass to mount.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silva is looking for a sweep. Hui is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Derek Hui dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Hui instigates a clinch.
Hui breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Silva doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Hui counters with a single leg into guard. Silva didn't expect that.
Hui is stalling in the full guard.
Hui's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Silva takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hui passes into half guard.
Hui stalling.

Hui uses his free foot to push down on Silva's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Silva.
Hui scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Hui gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Hui decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Hui decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Hui throws a head kick but Silva moves out of range.

and Hui decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Silva's guard.
Hui pushes down on Silva's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Silva wants to improve his position but Hui is controlling well.
Hui moves nicely into side control.

Felipe Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Hui has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
