Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ben Roller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jared Roughneck!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roller is trying hard to land a takedown here. Roughneck sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Roller takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Roller lands with an uppercut that bounces Roughneck off the cage and back into range.
Roughneck takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Roughneck works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Roller misses with a straight right.
Roughneck shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Roller as he avoids it easily.
Roller feinted with a counter takedown.

Roller drives through with a takedown into guard.

Roughneck had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Roller defends it easily.
Roller is looking to work some ground and pound but Roughneck has wrist control.

Roller content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Roughneck looking for a sweep. Not yet Roughneck, not yet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Roughneck can do anything to dispel that myth.
Roughneck is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Roller is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Roosters Coop that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Roller is looking to work some ground and pound but Roughneck has wrist control.

Roller trying to control the position from guard on top but Roughneck is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Still in half guard, Roller seems content to control.
Roller throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Roughneck is looking for a sweep. Roller is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Roller is thwarting Roughneck's attempts to control the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Roughneck is looking for a sweep. Roller is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Roller lands strikes from half guard.
Roughneck is not content to let Roller control the position.
Roller drops an elbow to the side of Roughneck's head.
Roller trying to control from Roughneck's half guard. Roughneck has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Roller slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Roughneck is looking to reverse the position.
Roller scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Roughneck to see if he's OK.
Roughneck avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Roller.
Roughneck felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Roughneck is working to avoid the ground and pound but Roller connects with a decent elbow.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Roller tries to score with some ground and pound. Roughneck controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Roughneck is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Roller off and has taken his back!
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Roughneck's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Roller turns into Roughneck and is now in his guard.
Roller trying to control but Roughneck is working from the bottom.
Roller is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Roller postures up.
Roller is pushing down on Roughneck's leg trying to pass to half guard. Roughneck is fighting to maintain full guard but Roller has managed to sneak the leg through.

Roller is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Roughneck sees it coming and defends easily.
Roller is keen to just control but Roughneck is a slippery customer.
Roughneck regains full guard. Nicely done.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Roller controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Roller tries to free his leg and advance position but Roughneck is retaining full guard.
Roughneck being controlled here, momentarily.
Roller throws an elbow that misses. Roughneck uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Roller's guard. Nice move by Roughneck!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roller is adopting a defensive guard.
Roughneck must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Roller is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Roughneck wants to pass the guard but Roller is keeping the position.
Roller keeping moving, preventing Roughneck from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ben Roller dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Roughneck keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Roughneck swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Roller throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Roughneck's waist but Roughneck gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Roller off to one side.
Roller shoots for a takedown but Roughneck saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ben Roller. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Roughneck swings for the body but Roller moves out of range.
Roller looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Roughneck is fending him off so far but Roller persists. Nope, Roughneck circles away and we're back to standing.
Roller fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Roughneck throws a counter combo.
Roughneck throws a series of punches but Roller avoids them all with ease.
Sloppy strikes from Roughneck. Those never looked like landing.
Roughneck comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Roller shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Roughneck defends it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Roughneck misses with a straight right.
Roller tries to clinch but Roughneck is having none of it.

Roughneck drives through with a takedown into guard.

Roller tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Roughneck wants to control from the top but Roller keeps moving.
Roller pulls Roughneck in close to prevent any damage.

Roller is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Roughneck rolls with it to try and escape but Roller cranks on the arm and Roughneck is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ben Roller!
