Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Juan Garcia! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Keith Morris! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Sandra Marshall and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Morris swings widly with a right hand
and Garcia counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Morris tries to roll over but Garcia keeps him under control. Garcia scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Morris is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Garcia pulls his head out easily. Garcia seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Morris does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Garcia has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Morris looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Garcia trying to mount his opponent but Morris defends it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Garcia is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Morris has managed to free his arm - good work. Morris trying to hold on to Garcia's head to control him but Garcia postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Morris looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Morris trying to hold on to Garcia's head to control him but Garcia postures up.
Morris is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Garcia's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Garcia's back!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Garcia fending off the submission attempt from Morris. Garcia tries to escape the position.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Morris's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Morris is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Garcia has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Morris has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Garcia taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Morris doesn't care though - he's delighted!
