Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Don Dirst!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hank Parker!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dirst missing with a left hand there. Parker was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Parker slips under a jab.
Dirst throws a good cross that connects.
Don Dirst seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dirst looks to throw the jab but Parker is out of range.
Dirst throws a front kick aimed at Parker's knee but Parker avoids it well.
Nice takedown defense from Parker. No joy for Dirst on that attempt.
Dirst shoots in but no luck this time.
Parker uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Dirst.
Dirst thows a body shot but no joy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dirst drives through with a takedown into guard.
Dirst looking to sit in guard and control but Parker gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Dirst trying to keep a closed guard but Parker is proving a slippery customer.

Parker wants to control from the top but Dirst keeps moving.
Dirst wants to sweep but no luck.
Parker pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Dirst is keeping the position for now.
Dirst knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Parker on the ground.
Dirst not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Dirst tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Parker drops back looking for a leg! Dirst is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dirst manages to kick Parker off! Parker jumps back into Dirst's guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Parker moves out of range as Dirst strikes.
Dirst swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Dirst looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Parker is fending him off so far but Dirst persists. Nope, Parker circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Don Dirst. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dirst shoots in and bounces Parker off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Dirst trying to control but Parker is working from the bottom.
Dirst throws a big right hand that misses.
Dirst in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Dirst wants to control from the top but Parker keeps moving.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Dirst trying to control the position from guard on top but Parker is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dirst looking to sit in guard and control but Parker gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Dirst wants to sweep but no luck.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Dirst is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Parker.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Don Dirst dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Parker doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Dirst decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Parker's guard.
Dirst pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Parker is keeping the position for now.
Dirst seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Dirst wants to control from the top but Parker keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dirst throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Dirst is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Dirst's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dirst trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Dirst wants to control from the top but Parker keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dirst throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Dirst misses with a takedown attempt
and Parker counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Dirst has his takedown stuffed

and Parker decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Dirst's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Parker pushing down on Dirst's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dirst trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Dirst tries to hold on but Parker pushes him away.
Dirst looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Dirst can't escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Dirst trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Parker controlling well, preventing Dirst from escaping the position.
Parker is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Dirst. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
Parker avoiding Dirst 's attempts to control his hands.
Parker is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Dirst up.
Dirst trying to control the position but Parker manages to sink in the hooks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hank Parker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Dirst's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!


Dirst lands with a straight right. Parker didn't see that one coming.

Dirst is trying to control the action in half guard but Parker is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Parker looking for submissions off his back.
Dirst stalling.
Dirst throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Dirst controlling the action here.
Dirst is stalling here. Parker is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Dirst seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Parker has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Dirst tries to strike but it doesn't land.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Dirst tries to buck Parker off but Parker is having none of it.
Parker looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Dirst is avoiding damage well.
Dirst prevents Parker from improving position.
Parker is trying to move to mount but Dirst reverses beautifully and ends up in Parker's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Dirst accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Parker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Dirst fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Parker sprawls well initially but Dirst persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Dirst takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Parker is pressing down on Dirst's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Dirst in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Parker looking for a sweep. Not yet Parker, not yet.
Don Dirst overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Dirst sitting in guard, not really doing much.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Parker wants to sweep but no luck.

And that's the end of the fight!
Don Dirst showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Dirst has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
