Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Aslan Akishev (ranked 2429 p4p, 274 weight class) and Purple Aki (ranked 2333 p4p, 263 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Aslan Akishev! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Purple Aki! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Akishev tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Akishev tries to sprawl but Aki drives through with a takedown into half guard. Akishev has hold of Aki's hands but Aki slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Aki controlling the action here. Aki working over Akishev with some ground and pound. Akishev looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Akishev pushes Aki off looking to stand but Aki dives back in and keeps control.
Aki has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Aki looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Aki lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Aki working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Akishev is defending against the submission attempts here by Aki.

That's one minute gone in the round. Aki perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Akishev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Aki on the ground. Aki is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Aki takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Aki fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Aki landing shots from mount. Akishev is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Aki content just to control the position here. Aki landing punches. Aki content just to control the position here. Aki unloading with bombs! Aki breaks from Akishev's wrist control and lands an elbow. Aki controlling from the full mount. The referee warns Akishev that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Aki controlling the pace for now. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Let's hope that Aki has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aki in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Akishev is rocked! Aki is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Akishev can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Oh Akishev is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Aki throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Akishev has his hands clasped together but Aki breaks the hold and Akishev is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Aki!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Purple Aki! After the fight, Purple Aki was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
