Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marc Guifre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, George Michael Bluth!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Thiago Cunha and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Guifre feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Guifre is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bluth is on top in guard.
Guifre wants to sweep here but Bluth controlling him for the moment.
Bluth trying to control but Guifre is working from the bottom.
Bluth throwing strikes but missing.

Guifre looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bluth wants to control from the top but Guifre keeps moving.

Guifre escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bluth gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Bluth should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Guifre is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Guifre has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bluth can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Guifre looking for a guillotine here but Bluth defends easily.

Guifre throws his legs up looking for a submission but Bluth uses it to pass to side control.
Guifre is breathing heavily.
Bluth trying to control the position but Guifre is working away.
Guifre tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Bluth presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Guifre bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Guifre is squirming around, avoiding Bluth's attempts to control the action.
Bluth unloads with some shots from mount but Guifre bucks and avoids them well.
Guifre is wriggling around trying to escape.
Guifre sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Guifre is looking for a sweep. Bluth is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Guifre is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Bluth pulls his head out easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bluth prevents Guifre from improving his position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Guifre shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Guifre was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Bluth is controlling an arm, preventing Guifre from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Bluth is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Guifre has taken his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bluth must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Guifre looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Bluth has picked Guifre up and slammed him! Guifre can't keep hold of the triangle and Bluth manages to pass to side control!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Bluth wants to control from the top but Guifre keeps moving.

Guifre moves into full mount! Bluth won't be happy about that!

Guifre is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Bluth is surviving well by controlling Guifre's body position as best he can.

Guifre looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Guifre moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Bluth has worked his arm free - good work by Bluth!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Marc Guifre will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Guifre gets caught flat footed, as Bluth shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Guifre keeping moving, preventing Bluth from controlling successfully.
Guifre is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Guifre is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Guifre is going olschool here, as he tries to force Bluth to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Bluth shrugs it off.
Bluth has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Guifre is trying to stick to Bluth's back but Bluth is turning into Guifre. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Guifre's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Bluth.
Guifre manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bluth manages to get himself to full guard.
Bluth can't keep his opponent in guard - Guifre advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Guifre works his way into side control.
Guifre works to advance to full mount. Bluth defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Guifre is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bluth can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Guifre looking to isolate an arm here. Bluth doesn't see it coming and as Guifre extends the arm, he's forced to tap out! Nice submission by Guifre!
