PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Napoleon Marsh (ranked 24164 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tshokolo Weezy (ranked 2931 p4p, 0 weight class). Tshokolo Weezy is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Napoleon Marsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tshokolo Weezy!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Weezy drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Weezy with a flurry of punches that miss.
Weezy engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Weezy preventing the sweep.
Marsh has a closed guard, preventing Weezy from standing up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Weezy stands up over Marsh, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Weezy trying to control the position from guard on top but Marsh is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Marsh is striking but Weezy is not phased and passes to half guard.
Marsh is pressing down on Weezy's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Marsh keeping moving, preventing Weezy from controlling successfully.
Marsh striking off his back but it's not causing Weezy any problems.
Weezy is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Weezy shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Marsh pinned against the cage. Marsh gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Weezy goes for a double leg but Marsh avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Marsh continues to drive forward.
Tshokolo Weezy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Weezy blocks a head kick by Marsh.

Weezy looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Weezy looks winded!
Marsh wants to get back to full guard.
Weezy is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Marsh makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Marsh.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Weezy chips away with some ground and pound.
Weezy preventing the sweep.
Marsh might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Marsh is working hard here to advance position.

Weezy is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Marsh is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Marsh has escaped and now he's on top!

Marsh is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Weezy is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Marsh could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Marsh stands up over Weezy, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Weezy is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Napoleon Marsh will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Marsh misses with a head kick.
As Marsh backs off Weezy throws a huge counter combo but Marsh manages to avoid it all.
Weezy looks for a takedown but Marsh sprawls well.
Marsh moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
A head kick from Weezy lands but Marsh takes it in his stride.


It looks like Napoleon Marsh has been cut.

Weezy moves into range and clinches up with Marsh.
Marsh avoiding damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Weezy jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Marsh walks away with a smile on his face. Weezy gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Weezy shoots in looking for a takedown but Marsh manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Weezy's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Napoleon Marsh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tshokolo Weezy.
Weezy misses with a jab, cross combination.
Weezy is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Marsh throws a wild body kick that Weezy sees coming a mile off.

Marsh shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Weezy napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Marsh is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Weezy will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
You can see the frustration on Weezy's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Weezy wants to control but Marsh postures up.

Marsh stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Marsh looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.

Marsh closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Marsh lands in his opponent's guard.
Weezy is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Marsh dives into side control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Marsh has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Marsh drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Marsh moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Weezy taking punishment in the form of punches.
Marsh lands a decent elbow from side control.

Marsh tries for a kimura but Weezy is defending well.
Marsh looks up at the clock and then as Weezy takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Marsh smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Weezy tries to control but Marsh manages to take his back.
Marsh not allowing Weezy to control his hands.
Marsh keeps control of the position easily here as Weezy tries to buck him off.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Weezy trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Weezy moves into the clinch successfully.
Weezy tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Marsh is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.
Marsh tries to pull guard but Weezy holds him up against the cage and eventually Marsh drops back down to his feet.
Weezy lands with a left to the head.
Weezy is trying to pull guard but Marsh has him pressed against the cage.

Weezy manages to break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Weezy moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Tshokolo Weezy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Weezy clinches with his opponent.
Weezy takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Marsh effectively controlling the action here.

Marsh breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Weezy shoots in but no luck this time.
Napoleon Marsh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tshokolo Weezy.
Weezy doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Marsh counters with a takedown into side control.

Marsh cracks Weezy with a big right hand but Weezy just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
You can see the frustration on Weezy's face as Marsh controls the position.

Marsh seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Weezy for as long as he can get away with.
Weezy is looking to reverse the position.
Weezy trying to remain calm as Marsh controls from the top position.
Weezy is looking for a sweep.
Marsh staying calm.
Marsh continues to stall.

Weezy misses with an elbow from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Weezy clinches.

Marsh jumps guard and drags Weezy to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Marsh is on top in guard.

Marsh is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Marsh is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Weezy can do to turn this around?
Marsh's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Further stalling from Marsh.
Marsh lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Marsh stays in close to Weezy's body and controls the position.
If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Marsh is stinking the place up with his stalling.
Tshokolo Weezy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Napoleon Marsh is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Weezy throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

And that's the end of the fight!
Napoleon Marsh showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Marsh, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
