PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Teijin Tey (ranked 4484 p4p, 449 weight class) and Saif Said (ranked 4904 p4p, 463 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Teijin Tey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Saif Said!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Said closes the distance and clinches.
A nice left hand lands by Said.
Said scores with a hook to the body.
Said stalls.
Tey is looking to control Said's arms but Said gets an underhook and turns him. Now Tey has his back to the cage.
Said jumps guard but Tey turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Said drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Tey gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Tey looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Tey avoids the elbow strike from Said, against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tey is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Said is keeping busy.
Said lands a left hand that snaps the head of Tey backwards.
Said tries to circle away but Tey has him pinned against the cage.
Tey using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Said has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Said leaning against his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Said is looking to take this one to the mat.
Teijin Tey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Saif Said.
Tey tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Said avoids it.
Tey is looking to break free of the clinch but Said has double underhooks.
Tey looking to stall.
Said effectively controlling the action here.
Tey on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Said cracks Tey with a nice body shot.
Said wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Tey is trying to break the clinch but Said has him pressed against the cage.
Said jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tey walks away with a smile on his face. Said gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Said takes the fight into the clinch.
Said lands with a left to the head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Tey wants to break the clinch but can't.
Said tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Said jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tey walks away with a smile on his face. Said gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Said is trying to push Tey away but Tey has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Said displaying some good clinch control by pressing Tey up against the cage.
Said prevents Tey from breaking the clinch.
Tey wants to break the clinch but can't.
Said wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Said is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Said breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Tey takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Said throws a right and a left that both miss.
A jab from Said does it's job there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Said misses with a takedown attempt - Tey sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Tey blocks a jab.
Tey throws a head kick that half lands.
Tey lands with an overhand left.

Said drives through and clinches with Tey against the cage.
Said is trying to force a seperation but Tey has the dominant position.
Tey has had enough of the clinch but Said keeps him there for the moment.
Tey is trying to stall.
Tey wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
A frustrated look appears on Said's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Said stalls.
Tey is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tey letting Said take a breather here.
Said stalling the fight.
Tey is trying to maintain a safe position but Said gets an underhook and turns Tey into the cage.
Tey wants to break free but Said has control.
Said prevents Tey from breaking the clinch.
Tey is trying to break free.
Said managing to block the knees to the body from Tey.
Tey is trying to push Said away but Said has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Said tries to land a knee to the head but Tey blocks with his arms.
Tey tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Said avoids it.
Tey looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Said wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Tey has him pressed against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Saif Said dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Said clobbers Tey with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Tey keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Said takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Tey lands a left and a right that send Said crashing to the mat, dazed. Tey thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Said is rocked!
Tey tries to close the distance and clinch up but Said swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Said is still on wobbly legs! Can Tey finish him?

Said clinches up against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Tey can't break the clinch.
Said has Tey pressed against the cage, preventing Tey from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Said seems to have recovered his senses.
Said leaning against his opponent.

Said has hold of one of Tey's legs. Tey is fighting the takedown attempt but Said gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Tey manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
Said is trying to pull guard but Tey has him pressed against the cage.

Said has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Tey uses from the top position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Said is on top in guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Said is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Said throws a big elbow that misses.
Said is looking to work some ground and pound but Tey has wrist control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Said controlling from the top position.

Said decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Tey, up you get!
Tey takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.


Tey is rocked!
Tey bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Said comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Tey falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Tey was out before he hit the floor!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Saif Said!
