Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex Brown (ranked 4539 p4p, 151 weight class) and William John (ranked 2834 p4p, 110 weight class). Alex Brown could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to William John's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alex Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, William John!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brown lands with a thumping leg kick.
Brown scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
John tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Brown manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
John tries to score a power double leg takedown but Brown sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten John somewhat.
John on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
John looks for a takedown but Brown sprawls well.
Brown thinks about countering with a body kick.
John has his takedown stuffed
and Brown counters with a body kick that stops John in his tracks momentarily.
Alex Brown has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of William John.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
John fails with the takedown
and Brown makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. John really felt that one!
Brown thuds his shin into the meat of John's side.

John tries to clinch up but Brown circles away and keeps his distance.
Brown thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on John if he has to take too many more of those.
No luck with that takedown attempt from John.
Brown could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Horrible takedown attempt by John or perhaps it was just good defense by Brown, which made it look bad.

John forces Brown back against the cage and clinches.
Brown tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Brown tries to land a knee to the head but John blocks with his arms.
Brown prevents the takedown attempt.

John is looking for a takedown.
Brown throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but John blocks it with crossed arms.

John breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Brown lands a nice looking kick to the body. John takes a step back to recover.
John shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Alex Brown is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
John stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Brown.
Brown pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
John fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
John is trying hard to land a takedown here. Brown sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
John throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Brown makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. John really felt that one!

William John seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brown stuffs the takedown.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Brown.
John lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Brown circles away quickly and effectively.

Nice sprawl there from Brown as John shoots in.
No luck with that takedown attempt from John.
John looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
John looks winded!
John fails with the takedown
and Brown counters with a good, hard body kick but John shrugs it off.
Brown tries to land a front kick but John steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Brown throws the kick towards the body but John avoids it.
John steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Brown. That one must have hurt.
John on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Brown delivers a nice body kick.
John fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
John tries to clinch there but Brown circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
John misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
John shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Brown as he jumps to the side.
John moves out of range as Brown throws a body kick.
John changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Brown tries to avoid it but John manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Brown to the ground. Brown escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A shot to the body from John misses
and Brown counters with a slapping leg kick.
John tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
John tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Brown paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Brown half committed to a counter leg kick.
John is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A solid leg kick lands there for Brown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brown is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that John can do to turn this around?

John turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Brown is letting John control him for a moment.

Brown wants to get back to his feet but John drags him back down.
John is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

John thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Brown pushes John away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, John gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

John is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Brown looks calm but he's in trouble here. John gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Brown is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! John lets go of the hold and Brown can pop his arm back in it's socket.
