PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight kickboxing rules bout between Miguel Cotto (ranked 4453 p4p, 490 weight class) and Silent Bob (ranked 6819 p4p, 566 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Miguel Cotto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 16 - 2, fighting out of New York, Silent Bob!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cotto lands with a kick to the temple. Bob shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Cotto misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bob moves out of range of the strikes.
Bob throws the left hand but Cotto avoids the punch easily.
Left hook, right uppercut from Bob.


It looks like Miguel Cotto has been cut.
Bob looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
An inside leg kick lands from Cotto.
Cotto moves out of range of the leg kick from Bob.
Bob fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cotto manages to avoid it.
Bob chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Cotto can pounce on him.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Bob. Cotto shrugs it off though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cotto throws the kick towards the body but Bob avoids it.
Cotto works Bob's body with a nice hook.
Bob feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Cotto's calf.

Cotto gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Bob blocks a body shot from Cotto.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bob swings wildly with an uppercut but Cotto uses good head movement to avoid it.
Cotto tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Bob's elbow.

Cotto breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cotto lands a nice leg kick that just misses Bob's sensitive parts.
Jab, jab by Cotto - just one landing.
Bob does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
It appears Cotto was looking to counter with a kick there.
Bob thows a left - swing and a miss!
Cotto is looking to counter with head kicks.
A clash of legs there as Bob blocks the low kick.
Cotto swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A jab from Bob misses.
Bob on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Silent Bob seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bob tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Cotto misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Bob avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Bob lands a nice leg kick that just misses Cotto's sensitive parts.
Cotto staying out of range there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cotto lands a high kick!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Bob crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Cotto - the referee stops the clock and Bob gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Cotto. Bob manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Bob jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Cotto blocks a body shot from Bob.
Cotto throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Bob blocks it with crossed arms.
Bob misses with a hook from the clinch.
Cotto lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Bob lands a shoulder strike.
Cotto prevents a body shot from Bob.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bob blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Bob prevents a body shot from Cotto.
Bob working hard to break the clinch.
Bob tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Cotto's elbow.
Bob prevents a body shot from Cotto.
Cotto goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Cotto.

Bob has Cotto pressed against the ropes, preventing Cotto from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Cotto misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Cotto throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Bobs head.
Cotto lands with a right to the head.
Cotto lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the ropes.
Bob looks winded!
Cotto lands a nice uppercut.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Cotto.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cotto tries to work over Bob's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Cotto lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Bob backwards.
Cotto makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Cotto misses with a hook to the ribs.
Cotto throws a punch but it's blocked by Bob.
Cotto using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.

Cotto breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Cotto looks low and kicks high, catching Bob right on the side of the head, sending him crashing to the canvas! Will he be able to beat the count? 3,4,5 - he's already back to his feet and ready to go! Let's see if he's still with it!


Bob is rocked!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miguel Cotto dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Miguel Cotto's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Cotto plants his feet and throws a devastating head kick! It connects square on Bob's ear and has knocked him out cold! No need for a count here as the referee immediately tends to a stricken Bob, crumpled in the corner! Wow, what a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Miguel Cotto!
A very excited looking Miguel Cotto rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
