Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tom Boaler! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sarvar Yuldashev ! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Dirk Anderson and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Boaler shoots and misses and Yuldashev cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Tom Boaler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Boaler dives in and grabs Yuldashev 's left leg, looking for a takedown. Yuldashev pushes down on Boaler's head and hops out. Yuldashev tries to counter by closing the distance. Yuldashev connects with a nice looking jab.
Good shot there by Yuldashev . Yuldashev 's coach down at was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Yuldashev 's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Boaler changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Yuldashev looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Yuldashev can do anything to dispel that myth. Boaler tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Yuldashev is trying to get back to his feet. Boaler controlling from side mount. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Boaler advances to full mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boaler working for a guillotine from mount but Yuldashev is in no mood to give up. Boaler has hold of Yuldashev 's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Yuldashev manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Boaler is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Yuldashev is surviving well by controlling Boaler's body position as best he can. Boaler looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Boaler is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Yuldashev has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Boaler is working for a guillotine from mount but Yuldashev frees his head quite easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Boaler looking to control but Yuldashev is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Boaler is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Yuldashev is forced to tap! Great finish!
