Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Steve Smith and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Luger closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Johnston did well to prevent Luger getting side control.
Luger is taking a breather. Johnston says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Luger looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Luger uses his free foot to push down on Johnston's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Johnston.
Luger controlling his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Johnston is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Luger controlling the pace for now.
Johnston has given up his back.

Johnston is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Luger gets his way!

Luger takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Luger wants to pass the guard but Johnston is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Luger uses his free foot to push down on Johnston's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Johnston.

Luger looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Johnston is trying to escape the mount.

Johnston is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Luger has taken his back.
Luger controlling the position well here. Johnston rolled but Luger kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Luger is hanging on to Johnston's back as he tries to escape.

Luger is persistently looking for the submission but Johnston is defending it well.
Luger keeps control of the position easily here as Johnston tries to buck him off.

Luger goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Johnston escapes and is now in half guard on top.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Johnston prevents Luger from improving his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lug Luger dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Johnston displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Luger.
Johnston tries to counter with a takedown but Luger is quick to defend against it.
Johnston tries to close the distance and clinch but Luger swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Luger changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Johnston wants to clinch up but Luger keeps it at a distance.

Johnston closes the distance and pushes Luger back into the cage.
Johnston is trying to break the clinch but Luger is controlling him.

Johnston fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Luger manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Luger is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Luger is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Johnston is aware though and is defending well.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Luger is on top in guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Luger is continuing to stall.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Johnston is trying desperately to improve position.
Luger controlling from mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lug Luger showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Johnston enables Luger to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Johnston manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Luger is pushing down on Johnston's leg trying to pass to half guard. Johnston is fighting to maintain full guard but Luger has managed to sneak the leg through.
Luger looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Luger passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Johnston!

Luger's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Luger goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Johnston is on top in guard.

Lug Luger is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Luger can do anything to dispel that myth.

Lug Luger comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Luger winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
