PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lee Lyons (ranked 3799 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyung Joong Ho (ranked 3573 p4p, 0 weight class). Kyung Joong Ho told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Kyung Joong Ho!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lyons shoots in and bounces Joong Ho off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Lyons with a nice head shot there.
Lyons prevents Joong Ho from getting back to his feet.

Joong Ho kicks Lyons off and gets to his feet.

Lyons gets a takedown into half guard.

Joong Ho manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Lyons really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Lyons circles away from the clinch attempt.
Joong Ho pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Lyons shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Lyons was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Joong Ho bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Lyons blocks a head kick by Joong Ho.
Lyons avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Lyons fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Joong Ho to the ground. Lyons is now in Joong Ho's guard.
Lyons working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Joong Ho is rocked!
Joong Ho wants to stand up but Lyons is controlling him.
Joong Ho looks winded!
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Lyons's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Joong Ho is still in real trouble! Can Lyons finish him?

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lyons gets to his feet and stands over Joong Ho, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Joong Ho felt that one! Lyons unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Joong Ho from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lee Lyons!
After the fight, Lee Lyons was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
