The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wright scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Gold is trying to control Wright's posture but Wright avoids it. Wright tries for a kimura. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Wright is working for a kimura but Gold is defending it quite comfortably.

It looks like Nick Wright has been cut. Wright shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gold but Gold pushes him off and we're back to square one. That was a close second round but I would say that Matthaus Gold will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Nick Wright's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Gold scores with a sloppy right hand. Wright should have avoided that one. Nice uppercut lands for Gold. That snapped Wright's head back.
Gold throws a shot from downtown. Wright moves away and avoids it. Wright fails with the takedown and Gold counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Wright thinking. Gold tries to clinch there but Wright circles away.
Wright gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Gold cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Wright is rocked! Gold goes for a small jab and connects. Now Gold goes in closer pressing the issue. Left hook, right straight! Wright stumbles back but Gold runs in with a huge uppercut knocking Wright to the ground! What a finish! You have to wonder if Wright will ever be the same after a knockout like that.
