Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryo Takuma! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Ray Vision! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Eliza Hachem and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice jab there from Takuma. Vision throws a lazy body kick and Takuma counters with a lovely straight right hand!
It looks like Ray Vision has been cut. Takuma misses with a two punch combination.
Vision throws a leg kick that is checked and Takuma cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Vision throws a hook but Takuma avoids it easily. Vision closes the distance but Takuma moves to the side and Takuma counters with a lovely straight right hand! Vision smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Vision throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. An attempted straight right counter from Takuma misses the target. Vision avoids the body shot from Takuma.
Ray Vision seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Takuma misses with a looping left.
That's one minute gone in the round. Takuma swings away with a body shot that misses
and Vision decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Takuma's guard. Vision trying to control the position from guard on top but Takuma is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Vision throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Takuma works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Vision throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vision thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. My spies in Touch Of Death Combat Academy inform me that Vision has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends! Vision seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Takuma preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vision throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Vision stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Takuma swivels though and keeps the full guard. Takuma keeping moving, preventing Vision from controlling successfully. Vision tries to free his leg and advance position but Takuma is retaining full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Takuma has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Vision wants to clinch but Takuma slips to the side and Vision takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Vision drives through and clinches with Takuma against the cage.

Takuma wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Vision has him pressed against the cage. Takuma is working Vision over against the cage. Vision looks winded! Nice body punch from Takuma. Takuma wants to break free but Vision has control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Still in the clinch, Takuma scores with a nice short uppercut. Takuma scores with a shot to the side of Vision's head. Takuma lands a hook that snaps the head of Vision backwards. Nice body punch from Takuma - that landed with a thud.

Takuma is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Takuma lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Takuma can't find room to land a body shot as Vision controls the action.

That has opened up Ray Vision's cut even more. Takuma lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Takuma lands a body shot. Takuma digs a right hand underneath Vision's ribcage. Vision let out a lung full of air as it connected. Takuma pushes Vision back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Takuma breaks the clinch.
Vision walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles Vision limp body while Takuma jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ryo Takuma! Ryo Takuma was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
