Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hector Zorba (ranked 908 p4p, 135 weight class) and John Makres (ranked 2188 p4p, 293 weight class). Makres has chosen SABATON - Coat of Arms as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hector Zorba!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Makres!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Sano.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Makres lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Zorba doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Makres counters with a nice uppercut.
Zorba shoots in and drives through. Makres sprawls well.
It seemed like Makres was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Zorba displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Makres throws out the jab.
A lazy left from Zorba finds it's target.

Zorba shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Zorba stops Makres from standing up.

Zorba decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Makres, up you get!
Jab from Makres.
Makres turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Zorba bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A little feinted left hand from Zorba on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A big right from Zorba misses.
Makres misses with a looping left.
Zorba swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Makres throws a lazy right hand but Zorba sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Zorba closes the distance and clinches up with Makres, looking for a takedown. Zorba pushes Makres against the cage but Makres circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Makres! But no joy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hector Zorba. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Zorba feints and as Makres raises his hands in defense, Zorba changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Zorba stands and steps away. Makres gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Makres swings and misses with a hook to the body.
The fighters circle momentarily. Makres darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Makres uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Zorba has time to react.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Makres gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Zorba to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Zorba stops Makres from standing up.

Zorba stands and steps away. Makres gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Makres stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Makres wants it to stay on the feet.
Zorba takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Zorba walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Zorba throws a looping overhand right but Makres ducks down to avoid it.
Zorba has a takedown stuffed.
As Zorba backs off Makres throws a huge counter combo but Zorba manages to avoid it all.

and Makres counters with a left hand that sends Zorba to the canvas!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Makres wants to get up but he can't break Zorba's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Zorba wants to stand up but Makres is controlling him.
Makres tries to stand but Zorba is controlling from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Makres prevents Zorba from getting back to his feet.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Makres keeps Zorba at a distance using the push kick.
Zorba misses with a takedown attempt
and Makres counters with a lovely straight right hand!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Zorba takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
John Makres is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Makres lands with a straight right. Zorba didn't see that one coming.

Zorba is rocked!
Makres lands with a right and another and another! Zorba is in big trouble! Makres lands again and this time it's lights out for Zorba! A quality knockout there for Makres.

In his post fight interview, John Makres started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
