PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cochise Harris (ranked 2008 p4p, 252 weight class) and Huwan Bagwis (ranked 1999 p4p, 250 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cochise Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Huwan Bagwis!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Kenichi Hosakawa and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harris just misses with a punch to the body.
Harris walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Bagwis checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
We've been told by Harris's head coaches at The Coffee Shop that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Harris digs a good body shot into Bagwis's ribs.
Harris smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Bagwis just misses with a punch to the body.
Bagwis has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Harris finds it's way round the side to connect with Bagwis's head.

Harris drops Bagwis with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Bagwis looks back up at him and smiles so Harris waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Bagwis is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Harris blocks a jab.
Harris throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bagwis sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Harris ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bagwis moves away.
We've been informed that Bagwis has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Harris dips to his left and cracks Bagwis with an uppercut!
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Bagwis.
Bagwis lands with an overhand left.
Harris doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Harris scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Harris misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Bagwis counters with a nice uppercut.
A looping hook to the body misses from Harris. Bagwis does a little dance to reset his feet.

Bagwis fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Harris on the side of the head.
Harris stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Harris jabs at Bagwis's body.

and Harris takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Bagwis pivots, looking for a leg kick but Harris is out of range and Bagwis settles back down.
Harris throws a jab but it's blocked by Bagwis.
Harris misses with an uppercut
and Bagwis counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Bagwis bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Bagwis connects with a body shot that sends Harris's belly button to the back.
Harris lands a really nice looking cross but Bagwis seems unphased.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Harris slips a straight right by Bagwis.
Bagwis misses with a hook.
Harris misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bagwis fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Bagwis throws a hook but Harris avoids it easily.
Harris throwing a counter right hand but Bagwis manages to avoid it.
Harris takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Harris throws a lazy right hand but Bagwis sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Harris misses with a double jab.
Bagwis thuds a left hand into Harris's body.
Bagwis lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Harris looks to land a combination but Bagwis avoids it well.
Harris fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Harris swings widly with a right hand
and Bagwis counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Harris throws a right hand that misses
and Harris takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Harris misses with an uppercut
letting Bagwis counter with a right hand.
Bagwis lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Harris falls off balance throwing a combination
and Bagwis counters with a nice uppercut.
Harris looks to score with a jab to the body but Bagwis is just out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bagwis fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Harris manages to avoid it.
As Bagwis looks to move away, Harris throws a big counter combo but Bagwis just gets out of the way.
Harris on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Bagwis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Bagwis moves out of range of the body kick from Harris.
A swing and a miss from Bagwis.
Harris misses with a left hand
and Bagwis counters with a left to the body.
Harris swings widly with a right hand
and Bagwis counters with a low kick, right behind Harris 's knee.
Harris missing with a left hand there. Bagwis was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Bagwis lands a jab.
Bagwis takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Harris uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bagwis.

It seemed like Bagwis was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

and Bagwis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.


Harris is rocked!
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Harris throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Bagwis counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Oh Harris is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Harris is breathing heavily.
Harris takes a swing at Bagwis's ribcage but misses.
Bagwis is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Harris with a body shot.
Bagwis throws a head kick that misses.
Harris seems to have got his legs back now.
Harris misses the body punch
and Bagwis counters with a lovely shot to the body.
A slow jab from Harris misses its intended target.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Huwan Bagwis dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

A jab from Harris finds it's way through Bagwis's defenses.
Bagwis lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Harris falls backwards - clearly groggy! Bagwis dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Huwan Bagwis!
